We are beyond grateful to the Lorain County Community College Police Academy cadets for thinking of us during their yearly fundraiser and inviting us to receive a large donation from their class!
This year members were invited to speak to the cadets and reduce the stigma of managing mental illness by sharing their personal experiences with law enforcement. We are proud of our members for their impactful sharing, and so thankful to the Police Academy Cadets for welcoming our members and supporting Gathering Hope Houses' mission to encourage communities to become more accepting of ALL the residents!
(From the LCCC Facebook Page):
LCCC Police Academy cadets recently presented a donation to Gathering Hope House.
To raise funds, the cadets created and sold unique challenge coins, as well as pastries at the Lorain County Deputies Association BBQ Bash.
LCCC Police Academy Commander Richard Thomas challenges each class to participate in charitable fundraising and community service. The Gathering Hope House is a Lorain County non-profit that encourages people with mental health illnesses to come together and focus on their goals.#LCCCproud
